Datuk Cha Hoo Peng

Datuk Cha Hoo Peng was conferred the title of Panglima Jasa Negara (P.J.N.) by the fourteenth Seri Paduka Baginda Yang di-Pertuan Agong in 2016 which carries the title of ‘Datuk’.
He has also been bestowed with the following state honours:
- Darjah Setia Pangkuan Negeri (D.S.P.N.) awarded by TYT Yang di-Pertua Negeri Pulau Pinang in 2017 which carries the title of ‘Dato’;
- Jaksa Pendamai Kedah (J.P.) awarded by DYMM Sultan Kedah in 2016;
- Seri Mahkota Kelantan (S.M.K.) awarded by DYMM Sultan Kelantan in 2012;
- Darjah Johan Negeri (D.J.N.) awarded by TYT Yang di-Pertua Negeri Pulau Pinang in 2010;
- Pingat Kelakuan Terpuji (P.K.T.) awarded by TYT Yang di-Pertua Negeri Pulau Pinang in 2001; and
- Pingat Jasa Kebaktian (P.J.K.) awarded by TYT Yang di-Pertua Negeri Pulau Pinang in 1998.
The founder of Marcoco Furniture, Datuk Cha is Advisor and Past President of Persatuan Perabot Malaysia where he served as President from 2002 to 2007. During his term as President, he organised a major Export Furniture Exhibition (EFE) in 2006 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre to promote Malaysian-made furniture at the international stage and boost the domestic economy. Exports of Malaysian furniture have since achieved RM12 billion in annual sales and Malaysia now ranks among the top 10 largest exporters of furniture in the world.
Datuk Cha was appointed as Honorary Consul-General of the Republic of Fiji in Penang in October 2020. He is an executive committee member of Majlis Datuk Persekutuan Malaysia (MDPM) and advisor to Yayasan Dato’ Malaysia.
He is a former board committee member of the Asian Furniture Industry Council and Past President of Persatuan Ibu Bapa dan Guru (PIBG) SJK(C) Kwang Hwa, Butterworth and Chung Ling High School in Butterworth, Penang.
Datuk Cha obtained a Master of Business Administration degree in 1990. He enjoys playing golf in his free time.
